MMA + specialty systems
Color that holds its ground.
High-visibility pavement markings for concrete, bike facilities, pedestrian areas and specialty applications.
High-adhesion marking systems
A practical answer for concrete and color.
Methyl methacrylate systems provide strong adhesion and high visibility in applications where conventional thermoplastic may not be the best fit—especially on concrete or where a colored surface is specified.
Methyl methacrylate (MMA) is a durable, high-adhesion marking system for colored surfaces that take heavy wear. Kerr Bros. installs green bike lanes, red bus and transit lanes, colored crosswalks, speed-hump markings and specialty symbols for Metro Nashville, surrounding cities, campuses and private developments. MMA bonds well to both asphalt and concrete. Anti-skid aggregate can be added where a project needs more traction.

Surface first
MMA or thermoplastic?
The correct choice depends on the pavement, specification, marking type and expected service conditions.
01
Concrete
MMA is often the preferred system when adhesion to concrete is a primary concern.
02
Colored areas
MMA supports conspicuous, uniform color for bike lanes, crossings and specialty zones.
03
Project requirements
Final selection should follow the plan specification and manufacturer requirements for the actual surface.

-
A two-part, cold-applied resin system that cures into a hard, colored surface. It is widely used for bike lanes, bus lanes and decorative crosswalks.
-
Each has its place. MMA performs well for large colored areas and on concrete, while thermoplastic is common for roadway lines and symbols. The project spec usually decides.
-
Yes. MMA bonds well to properly prepared concrete. Surface prep is reviewed for each project.
-
Service life depends on traffic and surface condition. Properly installed MMA typically lasts several years in high-wear areas.
